Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement regarding the Fort Hood Shootings: “Maria and I were deeply saddened to learn of this absolutely senseless tragedy. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the following appointments: Walter Allen, 59, of Covina, has been appointed to the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. He has served as the Governor's appointee to the California Council on Criminal Justice since 2006. Allen has served Covina as mayor since March 2009, on the city council since 2004 and previously served as mayor from 2003 to 2004. He has been a deputy commissioner for the Board of Parole Hearings since 2007. Allen was the assistant secretary for the Office of Correctional Safety for the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2005 to 2006 and served as the director of the California Youth Authority from 2003 to 2005.
