In its recent on-air fundraiser, this NPR station run out of the University of Missouri-Saint Louis raised $231,000 in pledges. They pitched Valentine's chocolates and other romantic incentives in exchange for pledges in their campaign called "For the Love of KWMU". The Valentine's Day pledge drive is an annual event but this year, in spite of the recession, the station reduced the number of days that they interrupted programming for fund-raising and still netted 13% more than they did last year.
